Is Winning Really Worth It

I get pissed off a lot and tend to keep it to myself but I can't take it any longer.

I am sick and tired of hearing people make excuses as to why so and so is better than anyone else.

Let's take the Olympics for example.

I just happened to be in the book store yesterday and while my wife was getting what she needed I picked up a copy of the British newspaper the Daily Mail. I flipped to the back as thats where all the sports are and started to read a story about the Jamaican sprinters.

Now I expect to read something about Usian Bolt the Jamaican runner who just destroyed the 100m world record putting up a mind boggling time of 9.69 secs despite relaxing the final 15m. However, this was not the case.

The story focused on Jamaica's lack of a national drug testing policy and pretty much implied that this was the reason for their success. I just thought to my self "are you freaking serious!"

Jamaica had 3 athletes get into the finals. Yet only 1 of them placed in the top 3 the other two placed 5 and 6. So what does this mean? That those that finished 2-4 must also be taking steroids? And if this is the case then how come Bolt still came out on top?

I love how people question whether Micheal Phelps is clean, just like they question Lance Armstong and I am sure they will question whoever else comes along and totally dominates there sport.

And if it isn't the drugs making them a winner then there are plenty of other reasons that people like to throw out there - genetics, population, popularity, exposure, money, etc

So if winning automatically makes you a cheat in so many peoples eyes I have to ask is winning really worth it?

Atmosphere

Atmosphere is in my opinion the most important thing to creating a winning environment. I firmly believe that this trumps any training program or system there is.

Check out what Matt Kroczaleski has to say about it.

The State of the Industry - Revealed

Last March, the leaders from virtually all of the
leading health club chains in the world met at an
exclusive event in Denver, Colorado.

It was called the Meeting of the Minds, and over
the two days of the event a dozen of the world's
leading fitness experts including guys like Paul
Chek, Charles Polliquin, Mark Verstagen and
Dr. John Berardi presented on the trends the
fitness industry is currently experiencing and the
170+ attendees spent 48 hours brainstorming and
plotting to make sure their respective organizations
are ready to capitalize on the current and upcoming
trends our industry is experiencing and will soon
face.

My friend, Brian Grasso, was one of the handful
of presenters during this industry shaping event.

If you don't already know Brian, he's widely
regarded as the industry's leading expert on Youth
Fitness and the founder of the International Youth
Conditioning Association.

Well, not only is Brian passionate about Youth Fitness,
but he is also committed to helping fitness professionals
create rewarding and successful careers. Because of this
desire to help his fellow fitness pros, Brian created a
video while he was in Denver specifically for fitness
professionals like us to let us know what he learned
while meeting with leaders of the biggest club chains
in the world and where the industry is headed.

You'd be making a big mistake if you write off what
Brian has to say as being only relevant to those in
the Youth Fitness Market as the direction the
fitness industry is moving will affect all of us.

In fact, I just saw the short video that Brian has aptly
dubbed 'The State of the Industry' and I have to admit
that what I saw on this video was actually quite
shocking.

If you want to survive and thrive over the next
2-5 years as a fitness professional, you must watch
this video.

Go watch the video now:

But before you go... there's one more thing: you
don't need to enter your email address to see the
video - it's completely free. But MAKE SURE that
you do enter your email address anyway... the follow
up information that Brian will be providing is
going to be even better than this first video. And
the only way to get the follow-up
is to be SURE to enter your email address.

Hey, I'm going to sign off now so you can check
out the video. I'm sure you'll find the video as
important and valuable as I did when you watch it.

How It All Started

I get several questions everyday from people asking me the same question – “how did you get to where you are at such a young age?”. So, I thought I’d sit down before I head off to the health club for another 12-hour day and tell you how it all began.

You see 3 years ago I knew absolutely no one in the fitness industry and as far as I know no one knew me. I’d read every magazine I could get a hold of, every article that came out on the Internet, and I’d say to myself that one day I would be like all these other fitness professionals.

I didn’t know how or what to do but I knew that I wanted to be someone people looked to for fitness advice. Then I read an article by Eric Cressey (www.ericcressey.com) that totally changed my way of thinking about correct warm-up for athletes. For some reason I decided to email him and let him know my thoughts. To my surprise Eric emailed me back and so I began email him whenever I had questions on various areas of training.

After a few months I decided to ask Eric how he got to where he was in the industry. He had a DVD out, had a Off-Season Training Manual, and was writing for fitness magazines and websites. Eric told me that he had invested thousands of dollars in books, manuals, seminars, coaching etc. I asked for a list of what he would recommend.

The list he sent back was a mixture of training books, business manuals, and seminars I should attend. I pulled out my credit card and brought every single book that Eric had listed and signed up for the seminar.

From there I have continued to invest in myself by buying more books and manuals, as well as attending seminar after seminar. Every time I do this I learn something new and take another step forward in my career. I have wrote articles for magazines and various websites, have been interviewed by many of the top fitness experts, co-hosted a radio show, been editor for one of the largest sports training websites in the world, and am currently working along side two of the industries leading consultants Pat Rigsby and Nick Berry (www.fitnessconsultinggroup.com)

I am not telling you all this to toot my own horn but instead share with you some of the steps I have taken to get to where I am today in the hopes that maybe it will help some of you get to where you want to be in this industry.

Of course there are other things that have helped me get to where I am but I’ll save those for another email.

So, for those serious about becoming a top fitness expert the first thing you should do is start investing in YOU.

Talk to you soon
